To ensure that the voice of the child is actively heard and where necessary to support effective action to safeguard our children and young people.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course participants will have -

  • to consider how accurately our records, assessments and reports evidence ‘the voice of the child’
  • to identify how we involve them in decisions that affect their lives whilst also supporting a clear articulation of the child’s story and rationale for our involvement
  • to understand how records support identify and healing
  • to think about how children communicate to us, not just about what they see, think and feel but how they react to the world around them
  • to reflect on how well we as practitioners are able to put ourselves in the child’s shoes and think ‘What is life like for this child right now?’
