Target group

All practitioners and managers who make referrals to Targeted Early Help Services and EHASH and are involved in recruiting, supervising and support staff, volunteers and foster carers.

Course aims

To develop participants knowledge and understanding of the guidance and legislation in relation to dealing with allegations against people who work with children.
To enable participants to recognise and act on allegations and concerns of abuse by people who work with children.

Course objectives

By the end of the course participants will -

  • be able to recognise the need for procedures and guidance in relation to dealing with allegations against people who work with children
  • have an understanding of their individual and organisational responsibilities and accountability in relation to local and national guidance and legislation
  • have explored the need for joint working including the need to share and process information in line with guidance
  • be able to recognise the expected and unexpected outcomes of an investigation
