Course aims

To have the knowledge and confidence to recognise and respond to child abuse linked to faith and belief. (CALFB)

Course objectives
  • Define what abuse linked to faith or belief is
  • Understand the context of abuse linked to faith or belief within harmful practices
  • Identify factors within various faith and belief systems that may make some of these harmful to children and adults
  • Explore the impact of CALFB on children and young people
  • Hear the voice of the child to reflect on their lived experiences
  • Identify signs, symptoms, and indicators that a child or young person maybe at riskof child abuse linked to faith or belief
  • Identify signs, symptoms, and indicators that a child or young person isexperiencing abuse linked to faith and belief
  • Be familiar with legislation regarding abuse linked to faith and belief
  • Know what to do if you suspect a child or young person is at risk of abuse linked tofaith and belief
  • Reflect on learning from National Case Reviews
