This course will help you to recognise and understand safe sleeping procedures for babies and explore how current safe sleeping guidance impacts on your safe sleeping procedures.

Learning outcomes
  • To examine sleep history and the characteristics of infants sleep
  • Explore usual sleep development for infants
  • Compare adults and infants sleep cycles
  • Identify the sleep stages and cycles of infants
  • Identify what SIDS is
  • Differentiate between Sudden Infants Death and Unascertained Infants Death
  • Examine national and local child death statistics
  • Interpret scientific research that informs of infant safe sleeping advice
  • Know current safe sleep advice
  • Compare your sleep procedures with current safe sleeping advice
