Target group

All practitioners and managers who make referrals to Targeted Early Help Services and EHASH and are involved in recruiting, supervising and support staff, volunteers and foster carers.

Learning pathway

Before attending this course participants must have attended Safeguarding Children – A Shared Responsibility.

Course details
  • To develop participants’ understanding of safer recruitment and selection in relation to safeguarding children.
  • To develop participants understanding of the guidance in relation to allegations of abuse made against people who work with children.
Learning outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to -

  • identify the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people.
  • consider policies and practices that minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure its prompt reporting.
  • help participants begin to review their own and their organisations’ policies and practices in recruitment with a view to making them safer.
  • be aware of local and national guidance and procedures in relation to allegations of abuse made against people who work with children.
